My name is Adrienne Frayne and I am a qualified and experienced Psychodynamic Psychotherapist and Counsellor. I am committed to providing a totally confidential, non-judgemental and professional counselling space for you to think about, explore and resolve the difficulties that are confronting you.
I work with adults, young adults, older adolescents and couples. I offer Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Counselling or CBT; either on an open-ended basis or for a focused, agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to overcome life crises and difficulties and embrace life more fully.
I have experience as a counsellor and therapist in the NHS and Private Practice and have worked in as a CBT Therapist at WPF using low and high intensity techniques and interventions.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy theorises that present day conflicts and difficulties are rooted in our early life experiences. The early relationships with our parents and carers unconsciously and consciously affect how we feel and behave in our relationships with ourselves and others as adults. If you experience repeated episodes of depression, are often anxious or find yourself in repeated poor relationships with partners, friends work colleagues then therapy is likely to prove helpful and effective.
Alternatively it may be that you are reading this because your life has hit a difficult patch or a current crisis. Generally life is okay for you but you are experiencing recent problems or have a difficult decision to make, either personal or professional. Counselling is a way forward for this .
Sometimes when we're in the middle of a situation, feeling depressed or anxious, it isn't always easy to see what the difficulty is or gain a perspective on events and relationships. Talking to someone who has no personal 'agenda' or involvement can help you to gain a clearer perspective and identify patterns that are unhelpful or damaging to yourself and your relationships.
Whether you would like to consider counselling or psychotherapy I will aim to provide a place where you feel respected and comfortable. I am an independent ear; I am not judging you but providing a totally confidential place where you are safe to say what can't be said elsewhere, perhaps even to yourself. The agenda is yours and we work at your pace.
I have a wide range and depth of experience and work with most aspects of human experiences ranging from depression and anxiety to complex trauma; including sexual and emotional abuse.
My consulting rooms are located in Atherington. I am easily accessible from North Devon and from the Exeter area. In particular, I am near to South Molton, Barnstaple, Torrington and Bideford. Atherington is on the B3217, just off the A377 Barnstaple to Exeter road, and it is about 5 miles from the A361 North Devon Link Road. Umberleigh station on the Barnstaple line is about a mile away.
